So how do you get started with Chalk Paint®? You’ve gotten your paint and now you are wondering how do you use it…
1. Clean your piece…what will you use..simple green, soap and water..anything that is not oil based to get the job done. rinse well and make sure your piece is free from debris and dirt..make sure its rinsed well…you do not have to strip or prime or sand your piece…lets just pause and tell Annie Sloan thank you for that piece of the puzzle being solved..
2. Have you picked your color yet….ohhh fun… Annie has 31 plus colors…hint: you can mix your own colors or lighten them with Pure White or Old White…you always need those two colors…
Aubusson Blue is my all time fav..see it below…I loveee this color….make sure you get into a shop and are able to see the color for yourself. Remember that all monitors and screens have different resolutions…so the color you see may not be the actual color…hint…
3. What Style are you looking to achieve? Chalk Paint® is not only Shabby Chic…its rustic, Industrial its French…its you..its what and who you are…yep…you can learn more about style by looking through magazines, pinterest and most recently Annie wrote a book on Style and design…excellent book…I can’t say that enough..we carry it in the shop and I need to post it here in our online shop… ok so back to what style you want to use…here are a few basic ones 2 color distress, rustic and modern…
4. Check out Annie’s video on 2 color distress HERE…let me know what you think about the video when you are done..want to choose two colors that go together but are not sure…come see our life size color wheel and I can show you how to choose colors…in short you pick the opposite of the color on the color wheel…its called its complimentary
